INTRODUCTION
Elefante is a Mediterranean restaurant and deli located in an old colonial villa in the heart of the former French Concession in Shanghai. Elefante’s design takes inspiration from the old “colmados” and “salumerias”, neighborhood convenience stores in Spain and Italy.
The space is divided into four distinct rooms: The Deli Room with its fresh produce counter, product shelves and high tables The Wine Room, a private group table linked to the wine cellar, The Bar Room, focused on the drinks marble bar and The Garden Room, with its original brick archery and big windows opened to the garden.
Rustic bare wooden tables, white marble tops, and antique fridges provides a general domestic quality. Combined with hand-painted menus on blackboards and various product displays create a colourful backdrop that produces an overall tapestry of vintage chic with a modern fun twist.
